The grand old hymn “Onward Christian Soldiers” has such a powerful battle cry to keep up the fight, to continue in battle, to get a firm hold on the cross of JESUS CHRIST and keep marching. Cowboys and Cowgirls, that battle cry must be carried on today because we are faced with a powerful move of the enemy from all sides, actually every aspect of our Christian life is threatened. The Apostle Paul sure gives a very accurate description of the direction that this nation and world is traveling.

2 Tim 3:1-4: 1This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.

2For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, 3Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, 4Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;

As the election draws near and as we wonder how things will work out, there are many fears that arises over so many issues. We as Americans, Cowboys and Cowgirls and Christians, are faced with so many possible changes in our way of life and our religious freedoms. It is a great possibility that many things could change, and change very quickly.

These changes may not be so readily understood; a good example is a foreign missionary said that they greatly feared for their lives in the nineties, because there was absolutely no respect for the American government in many of the countries they were working. But over the last eight years they were able to minister and work at sharing JESUS CHRIST with a great deal of freedom and respect. Another issue is the strong ties with the nation of Israel, especially with the threat of the nuclear program in Iran, may change with this election.

As we near the seventh anniversary of 9/11 it is so difficult to believe that the fanatics of the religion responsible for that terrible act have such freedom and are recognized by so many large corporations and political figures in this nation. Especially since America was the nation that was attacked, and when so many Christian programs are threatened or actually removed and now considered unlawful.

Now I don’t want to project a “doom and gloom” outlook, but I do want to put our Christian warriors to work. And encourage each one to a stronger walk with the LORD, and especially to greatly expand your “Prayer Life.” As we read about the great men and women of faith in the early church, we wonder how they were able to continue on with such a terrible charge of the enemy. But we must remember that they were not alone, they were empowered by THE HOLY SPIRIT and HIS strength.

They were not alone and WE (Americans and Cowboys and Cowgirls as Christians) are not alone. THE HOLY SPIRIT is certainly with us, and we need to activate HIS POWER in this election, not only for the president, but for the congress and senate. PRAY, PRAY, PRAY is the Cowboys For Christ official slogan for this election, and I personally ask each one to PRAY, PRAY, PRAY that the LORD will accomplish HIS WILL in each position that is up for election. And PRAY, PRAY, PRAY that revival with happen in America and around the world that JESUS CHRIST will be preached, proclaimed and accepted as the SAVIOR that HE is, and that great and mighty works will be accomplished for HIS HONOR and GLORY.
